National Association of State Boating Law Administrators

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators is a national nonprofit organization that works to develop public policy forrecreational boating safety. NASBLA represents the recreational boating authorities of all 50 states and the U.S. territories.

We offer a variety of resources, including training, model acts, education standards and publications. Through a national network of thousands of professional educators, law enforcement officers and volunteers, we affect the lives of over 83 million American boaters. To learn more about how NASBLA continues to make the waterways safe, secure and enjoyable, visit the pages within this website.

NASBLA’s mission is to strengthen the ability of the state and territorial boating authorities to reduce death, injury and property damage associated with recreational boating and ensure a safe, secure and enjoyable boating environment.

Strategic Programs - NASBLA addresses its mission by fostering partnerships among and between the states, the Coast Guard and others, crafting model boating laws, maintaining national education and training standards, providing members with critical knowledge and skills, assisting in the homeland security challenges on our waterways, and advocating the needs of the state boating programs before Congress and federal agencies.

Vision Statement – NASBLA envisions a national recreational boating program where the number and severity of recreational boating accidents are substantially reduced and boating-related deaths virtually eliminated, where family-oriented fun and personal responsibility are valued in equal proportions, where universal boater education is the rule rather than the exception, and where boating laws and regulations are seamlessly applied across state lines.

Core Values Statement – Collectively, NASBLA members value consensus, collegiality, egalitarianism, integrity and a sense of fair play both in their decision-making among members and among and between NASBLA and its strategic partners.

The National Boating Safety School is a proud member of NASBLA and plays a major role in providing quality education and certification to boaters accross North America.
