Pleasure Craft Operator Card 

The Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC - Boating License) is proof that you have successfully completed a safe boating exam. One way to obtain the PCOC is to do the exam online with the National Boating Safety School, one of Canada’s leading course provider accredited by Transport Canada. Once you have your card, it is good for life.

Taking your exam online is an efficient way of getting your PCOC (Boating License).

Boater Registration Fees

Standard one-time fee of $49.95 plus taxes.

This includes the issuance of a temporary Pleasure Craft Operator Card (upon successful completion of the test) and also a permanent one that will be mailed to you.
If you do not succeed, you are allowed retries.

STEP ONE

Complete the application form. Make sure the information is correct and current. This information, i.e. the correct spelling of your name, will be used to mail you your permanent Pleasure Craft Operator Card.

Once your information has been validated, you will receive a username and a password. This will enable to proceed to the study guide.

STEP TWO

The study guide includes 5 chapters that are easy to read and understand. These are timed chapters with a minimum total study time of 3 hours. At the end of each chapter, you will have to complete a short ten-question, multiple-choice review quiz. You will be graded automatically and given your score online. You must successfully answer at least 80 % of the questions correctly (8 out of 10) in order to proceed to the next chapter. If you do not succeed, you will have to study the material again. Take note that your registration is valid for a year and you can study at your pace and along your availabilities.

STEP THREE

Once you have studied all 5 chapters and successfully answered all the chapter review quizzes, you will be prompted to access the final exam. This exam is administered by Transport Canada. It consists of a 50 question, multiple-choice exam. You must obtain a passing grade of 75% (38 out of 50). Again, you will be graded automatically and given your score online. Upon successful completion, you will be able to print a temporary card immediately (Boating License). You may only take the exam once every 24 hours.

If you do not succeed, you are allowed retries.
